San Lorenzo Algarve

The San Lorenzo golf course is one that you really have to play to fully believe what I am about to say. It is truly one of the most spectacular courses I have ever played on. Set in the stunning Rio Formosa Nature Reserve you are playing in magnificent surroundings that make even the worse of rounds an absolute pleasure.

The course is regarded as the best course in the whole of Portugal and has continually been regarded as one of the top 10 courses in Europe being as high as number two on several occasions.

The opening holes ease you in playing amongst the Pine trees and undulating fairways. Then you reach the first of the holes to be played along the waters edge, simply magical. You close out the round playing in the heart of the nature reserve with water everywhere you look and an incredible array of rare birds. The famous 18th with its island like green makes for an unforgettable finish to an unforgettable course.

Once the round is over the clubhouse provides the perfect setting to grab a club sandwich or hamburger. Sit out on the terrace or catch up on other sports while watching sky sports on their large television.

If you are visiting the Algarve then the San Lorenzo golf course is one you just have to play. The stunning photos don’t even begin to do justice to the course. Although the sheer magnificence of the setting may cause some confusion, it is in fact an extremely ‘user friendly course’ and welcoming to everyone.
