About Casa do Campo

Casa do Campo can be easily missed when driving around Almancil. Its not a restaurant that stands out from the road, you have to be in the know or very inquisitive to come across its front door. When entering through the door you are automatically taken back by its unique atmosphere.

The dining area is small and intimate; the tables circling around the central fireplace, which provides a warm atmosphere in the winter. Casa do Campo also has a beautiful garden for al fresco dining in the summer.

For starters we had the warm goat’s cheese tartlets with dried figs, honey and thyme and the sizzling prawns with garlic ál ajillo´. The warm goat’s cheese melted in your mouth and the prawns were large and succulent. For mains we went for the rack of lamb and the roast duck with an orange and blueberry sauce, it was difficult to resist the chateaubriand on the menu but we thought we would save it for next time. There was barely a word spoken during the mains, the silence said it all, the flavours were all perfectly balanced and the potato áu gratin´ was delicious.

Finally we finished a superb meal with a plate of cheeses and a glass of port. Casa do Campo really is as it was put during the meal ´a hidden gem.´
